Should We Forgive and Forget - Or Are Some Things In History Too Painful To Do So?

Humans are particularly fantastic at forgiving, even when it comes to some of the worst atrocities identified to mankind. A single could ask it that's a noble trait to a disastrous 1. For example; "these who fail to study their history are doomed to repeat it," and I'd add to that renowned quote; "these who re-create their history are assured an uncertain future." Now the query is; really should we white wash history, attempt to overlook it, forgive these who've trespassed against us, or ought to we construct an instance of them to hold future culprits at bay and forewarned. Let's speak shall we?

There was a troubling piece in the Washington Post on January 20, 2014 titled; "Corporation's Interest in Purple Line Draws Scrutiny for Parent Company's Holocaust History," by Katherine Shaver which stated; "The majority owner of a Paris-primarily based corporation competing to create and operate the light rail Purple line amongst Montgomery and Prince George's counties was the target of a Maryland law requiring that companies disclose any ties to the Holocaust when bidding on rail contracts."

Now, I hope this is not foreshadowing of factors to come. Despite the fact that we really should recall how extended ago this was, and fully grasp that we are driving automobiles that created bombers and ships for the Japanese in WWII and driving vehicles produced by the very same businesses that constructed Germany's war machine. Nonetheless, just the believed of this certainly tends to make us quit and believe. It is okay to take a stand here and keep in mind history, it tends to make us smarter, and much better policy makers. Even if there is a shade of political correctness, It's actual history - just inform them sorry - no go - that does not fly here.

Okay so, that is exactly where I'd draw the line, yet must that line (rail line) be drawn, or should really we let bygones be gone? Clearly, there are powerful opinions on each sides of this equation are not there? What occurred throughout WWII (the Holocaust) is some thing we'd all like to neglect, yet we dare not. Is this therefore, an additional reminder worthy of creating even if it flies in the face of arbitrary hypocrisy? The battle cry following the war was; "We will by no means neglect" and maybe that's particularly great guidance to stop it from taking place again, and however, if we go there, then what about all the other organizations involved?

What about banks, gear makers, auto makers, pc makers, munitions makers, religious leaders blessing each sides. Look, I do not have all the answers, nor do you, however I hope you will take a moment and please think all this. Oh and lastly, I am putting this into the "Humanity" category, however has that turn out to be an oxymoron contemplating how poor human behavior has been in previous periods?
